OCM encourages the adoption of change. It provides support through the knowledge and tools necessary to understand the change which can lead to faster rates of adoption (acceptance). Emotional reactions to change are normal and people express their different emotions in many ways. Try to tune in and listen to concerns so you can understand and encourage your stakeholders to be open to the change.
Change is often difficult—sometimes very difficult—for many people. The Change Management Plan prepares people for the change in the following ways:
When you expect something, you shape your own reality, especially if there is no information to fill the gap between expectation and reality. It is in that gap where there is a lack of information that the magnitude of stress from change is determined.
It is vitally important to remember that change is a process. Change does not happen overnight; it takes time to process changes and accept them.
