Staff just received the monthly newsletter from the chief executive officer announcing that your clinic is going to be part of the PCMH transformation initiative and there are going to be some changes.
One of the change goals is to expand office hours to be open two evenings during the week and two Saturday mornings each month. Currently, the clinic is open only weekdays, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
You often hear comments from both patients and staff about changes or decisions that affect the entire clinic. Your supervisor has already spoken to you in advance of the newsletter going out. She explained that she would like you to help get staff on board with this change to expand clinic hours.
You are enthusiastic about being given the responsibility to help the clinic make this change because it is a passion of yours to serve your patients, many of whom are part of vulnerable populations. However, not everyone feels this way. It will be up to you to think this through and develop the next steps. Your supervisor would like to meet with you next week to begin firming up your initial ideas on the approach and next steps to get moving on this change initiative.
Use your experience and information from the toolkit to think about and respond to the following questions. (Be sure to write down the references you use from the toolkit, so it is easier to refer to them later.)
