Acknowledge Quick Wins
Another way to successfully manage constant change is to celebrate small victories along your change journey. Meeting short-term victories or milestones are what we call “Quick Wins.” Make it a point to honor short-term successes that serve as stepping stones to your final change goal. Every small success is a Quick Win and provides an opportunity to build morale, build upon what went right, and identify where you can improve. Never stop looking for ways to improve; however, it is crucial to always recognize and celebrate Quick Wins along your change journey!

Because their health screening completion rate was way below the practice’s aspirations, Community Clinic leaders set a goal to achieve an 80 percent completion rate of all health screenings during a patient exam.
When this change initiative began, Community Clinic had a 25 percent completion rate. Change leaders set 30 percent, 50 percent, and 70 percent completion rates as Quick Wins. When they achieved these milestones, they celebrated with staff by serving a catered meal and handing out gift cards.

How Do You Celebrate Quick Wins?
One way to acknowledge a Quick Win is to thank staff for working towards the goal and acknowledge staff members who are making individual strides towards the goal. Celebrating can be on a small scale such as serving lunch to all staff. Other options include offering a monetary incentive or giving gift cards.
