Value Based Payment is a healthcare delivery model in which providers, including hospitals and physicians, are paid based on patient health outcomes. In this system purchasers of healthcare (government, employers, consumers) and the payers (public and private) hold the health care delivery system at large accountable for both quality and cost of care. Thus providers are rewarded when patient health improves. This model differs from a fee-for-service approach in which providers are paid based on the amount of healthcare
